Gabby
and Kenny Logan are two of the highest profile new parents in the
country. Gabby, 31 is the face of ITV sports and is set to be their
lead presenter at this summer's football world cup. Her husband
Kenny, 33, represented Scotland 70 times and played in three Rugby
World Cups. He now runs his own sponsorship/events company.
In July last year, after IVF treatment, Gabby and
Kenny became the proud parents of twins Lois and Reuben.
Gabby and Kenny joined us live in the babyworld chat
room on Friday 17th March to talk about parenthood, their new responsibilities,
juggling busy schedules as well as their own fertility journey.
The Logans are brought to you by Fertell
- male and female fertility tests that help couples take control
of their fertility journey by measuring certain factors that affect
both men and women's fertility in the privacy of their own home.
It was busy, it was quick, but it looks like everyone
had a good time - here's a transcript of what happened.
ChatModerator: The Logans are just getting
ready we'll be starting in a few minutes.
YummyMummysUK: ohh how exciting
EmmaDickson: drumroll.......
daniellesmum: don't think I have ever seen it
this busy
EmmaDickson: me neither, it's pretty hectic
calkin: me either
mrschambers: me either
twinmum1969: LOL, lots of people...
Hayleyjayne: What's gonna happen when they come into
the room? It's gonna be mayhem!
twinmum1969: Maybe if we all disappear we won't scare
them!
ChatModerator: Hello everyone and welcome to our online
chat with Kenny and Gabby Logan.
rangel9279: applause
ChatModerator: By now you probably know all about
Gabby and Kenny, mostly because they are the very proud parents
of twins - Lois and Reuben.
Marielouise04: Congratulations!
EmmaDickson:(trying
to think of something intelligent to ask!)
kerrol: lol
ChatModerator: You also would have seen them on the
site as the faces of Fertell - fertility tests that measure certain
factors that affect both men and women's fertility in the privacy
of their own home.
ChatModerator: We'll begin with questions that have
been emailed to us in advance, but we'll take questions from the
chat room as we go along too. Let's start.
kerrol: yay
Marielouise04: yay!
twinmum1969: Oi you lot, keep quiet!!
ChatModerator: From Michelle - We've been trying for
a baby for 2.5 years now. I had a mc in Nov. We are currently doing
IUI but to be honest I don't have alot of faith in it. We live in
Nth Ireland so we do not have a lot of choice as to what clinic
to go to. We are thinking of going to Eng for IVF but are finding
it hard to choose a clinic. What clinic did the Logans go to?
GabbyandKennyLogan: We went to Viveka - in St John's
Wood. And were helped by Dr Talha Shawaf.
ChatModerator: From Sarah - did you share a lot of
the ups and downs with family and friends?
GabbyandKennyLogan: No, we decided not to tell anybody
and used each other for support. It was a massive surprise to everyone
when we told them we were pregnant with twins.
ChatModerator: From Jenny - would you got through
what you've already been through to have more children?
GabbyandKennyLogan: Yes, we would. But we hope that
one day we may conceive naturally now that my body knows how to
be pregnant and deliver a baby
Marielouise04: Gabby and Kenny - Can I ask what your
infertility diagnosis is?
GabbyandKennyLogan: Hi Marie Louse. It's unexplained
fertility, which is a bit frustrating.
Marielouise04: Thanks for replying. We had male factor
infertility, so I suppose at least we 'knew' - I'm now 6.4 weeks
pregnant after our 3rd IVF.
GabbyandKennyLogan: Congratulations and good luck
with the birth, Marie Louise.
Marielouise04: Thank you Gabby and Kenny
hay12a: Were u trying long before u chose to have
ivf Gabby and Kenny?
GabbyandKennyLogan: Hi Hay. Yes, we were trying for
3 years.
April05: Did you find the first 12 wks hard to get
by?
GabbyandKennyLogan: Hi April. Yes, we were very nervous.
miniloopie:gabbyandkenny: Any 'must have' tips for
mums of twins?
GabbyandKennyLogan:Hi Miniloopie. Get as much help
as possible from any friends that offer! Take help from wherever
you can get it from.
miniloopie: hehe thanks :)
rt51: Gabby and Kenny - What would you say to anyone
who is worried that going through IVF will be too much of a strain
on their relationship?
GabbyandKennyLogan: Hi rt51! Each relationship is
different, for us it brought us closer. We'd say be strong for each
other.
YummyMummysUK: Do you think IVF should be free on
the NHS ???
GabbyandKennyLogan: Hi YummyMummy. As far as we're
aware you can have one round of IVF free on the NHS.
Marielouise04: You can't have 1 round free on the
NHS!!!! It STILL depends on your PCT, and in my area you still don't
get NHS funding, I had to pay private
Marielouise04: Sorry, this NHS thing makes me angry!
It should be everyone, not just a postcode lottery!
GabbyandKennyLogan: Hi Marie Louise. Sorry I only
know people who live in postcodes where it's available.
Marielouise04: That's ok! Not everyone knows, but
it's an issue close to my heart. It's just unfair but then that's
life!
GabbyandKennyLogan: I agree. It's unfair that you
should be penalised.
twinmum1969: Gabby, how do you cope with your TV work
and being a mum of twins??? I run out of time and I don't work!
GabbyandKennyLogan: Hi Twinmum. It's a massive juggling
act, I've got some help, a very supportive husband and I work a
lot from home - and I don't get enough sleep! ChatModerator:
From Kelly - are Reuben and Lois going to play football, rugby or
gymnastics?
GabbyandKennyLogan: Hi Kelly. It doesn't matter… as
long as they play for Scotland! (Kenny)
miniloopie: Gabby and Kenny - how old are the twins
now and do you see them as much as you would like?
GabbyandKennyLogan: Hi Mini. They are coming up to
8 months and I think we have a pretty good balance between work
and family life. I spend a lot of time at home, but when I go away
I appreciate that I have a job that I love and a husband who is
at home with my babies.
DLW: Gabby and Kenny, are one of you at home with
them most of the time?
GabbyandKennyLogan: Hi DLW. They are never without
one of us for more than a few hours.
April05:
Gabby when trying to conceive did you use ovulation predictor kits?
GabbyandKennyLogan: Hi April. Yes, I did.
mrschambers: You look FAB now. Did you eat healthily
throughout your pregnancy???
GabbyandKennyLogan: Hi Mrs Chambers. Yes, I did. I
ate more than I normally do, but it was all good food. I was trying
to grow big, strong babies and I think we've succeeded with them
being 6 pounds each!
twinmum1969: At what gestation were they born? Mine
were 5lb 13 and 6lb 6 at 33+6 weeks.
GabbyandKennyLogan: Hi TwimMum. I was induced at 37
weeks. They predicted heavier babies but when they were born they
were 6 pounds each.
twinmum1969: I was like three beached whales stuck
together - I even got trapped in the turnstile at Kings Cross Station!
GabbyandKennyLogan: lol twinmum
ChatModerator: From Debbie. Did you prepare you bodies
for conception or try natural fertility management (nfm)?
GabbyandKennyLogan: We did prepare our bodies. I ate
very well, didn't drink, cut down on coffee and generally led a
healthy life, as did Kenny when it came near to d-day. twinmum1969:
Kenny, did you do any of the night time feeds so that Gabby could
rest?
GabbyandKennyLogan: Hi Twinmum. Yes, I did. I got
up and made her tea and toast when she was breastfeeding and did
the night feeds as a partnership.
pennylopey: oooh I want tea and toast! lol
GabbyandKennyLogan: Send us your address Penny!!
seagers: Well done Kenny!!
twinmum1969: Oh you lucky woman Gabby!! My husband
used to put the first one back to bed and fall asleep on me! pennylopey:
My husband doesn't even wake up grrrrrrr (only have one baby though,
lol)
rangel9279: lol Can we all come for tea and toast?
:) Jealous!
Marielouise04: Lets all go over now!! lol
DLW: My dh got up in the night with both our's, he
had to for our first when I was pg with the second, it would take
me to long to roll out of bed!!
