CBeebies is the BBC's children's channel, offering the very best of BBC
pre-school programming for children up to five years, including those
with special needs.
Launched in February 2002 and available between 6.00am and 7.00pm every
day on digital satellite, cable and Freeview, CBeebies is now the nation's
number one children's pre school channel watched by over a million happy
children every week. CBeebies is also available on BBC TWO weekday mornings
from 6.00am.
     
CBeebies is focused on education and entertainment designed to encourage
learning through play for children in a consistently safe environment.
To safeguard this, there is no advertising at all and the broad range
of high quality, UK made programming aims to stimulate a child's interest
in a diverse range of subjects including story telling, make and do, music
and movement, science, natural history and puzzle programmes. The daily
schedule is designed to reflect a pre-schooler's routine with different
themes such as cooking, dance and painting.
 The
channel is also home to many favourite characters and programmes including
the Tweenies, Balamory, Bedtime Hour, Charlie and Lola, Boogie Beebies,
Big Cook Little Cook, Postman Pat and the Roly Mo Show.
CBeebies interactive television on BBCi
CBeebies interactive services are available, completely free of charge,
around the clock, allowing children and their parents and carers to play
along and learn via the TV at the touch of the red button. There's a vast
array of games, stories, puzzles and tasks designed to develop skills
such as numeracy and literacy and extend the learning experience beyond
the TV programme.

CBeebies also has a truly amazing website, enjoyed by millions of pre-school
children and their parents each week. It's impossible to describe the
true breadth and depth of this online play and learn treasure trove in
a few words. You just have to go and see for yourself!
You could start with the thought provoking Grownups
section that helps you understand how a child learns and how to maximise
use of the CBeebies site before exploring the interactive fun and games
sections, the songs and stories, the colour and make area. There are competitions
to enter, a gallery showing your children's paintings; your child can
design his/her own CBeebies site, choose and adopt an online pet and create
and view themselves online.
 Their
favourite programmes and characters feature throughout including the Tweenies,
Roly Mo, Balamory, Bob the Builder, Charlie and Lola, Tommy Zoom and Something
Special with many of these having their own microsites under the CBeebies
umbrella. As with the TV programming, this environment online is safe,
stimulating, educational and free of commercial messages.
