Hi, I'm Susan and at the time of writing this I'm just about to turn 30. I live in Fife, Scotland with my husband, two children and cat. My son, Logan, was born in August 2005 and my daughter, Isla, was born in February 2007. I'm co-moderator of the Feeding forum.
Before having children I worked from home as an analyst. I took a lot of time off after having Logan and Isla and I'm just getting back into the swing of a bit of part time work from home. I also make 'pocket money' working as an internet researcher which I find great fun. I volunteer locally as a breastfeeding peer supporter and in the little spare time I have, I enjoy doing crafty things like making jewelery. Of course, I spend rather a lot of time on babyworld too!
I joined babyworld when I fell pregnant with Logan in November 2004. I had an early miscarriage a couple of months earlier and it left me very nervous and in need of a lot of reassurance. I joined my Antenatal Club and found that many others had the same concerns and it was great to offload some of my emotions. I love the women in my AN clubs and they have been a fantastic support to me. I also got some invaluable advice on the Pregnancy and Labour and birth Forums. Once I was on maternity leave, I spent many hours on Discuss, debate and deliberate too. If you haven't been to the DDD forum, I'll warn you that it's very addictive! When Logan was born (birth story) I found the Feeding forum brilliant as I was completely paranoid about every little change in feeding habit or rise or dip in weight gain. In fact, I was a very nervous first time mum all round.
When I was pregnant with my daughter, chatting on babyworld opened my eyes to many options that I had not even considered. After a lot of reading on the Homebirth forum, I decided to have her at home. It was a brilliant experience and you can read about it in my birth story. My daughter, Isla, brought me new challenges. She was an even worse sleeper than my son had been and the support I had from members in many forums was amazing. I'm not sure I'd be sitting here with a smile on my face now if it wasn't for them. I was also surprised to find that I was still a paranoid mum and was very worried that breastfeeding wasn't going well. Once again, the Feeding forum answered all my questions and supported me. Both my children sparked a big interest in infant feeding and that's why I'm delighted to be co-moderating the Feeding forum.
