Hi everyone
I am so pleased to be joining the babyworld team as Community Editor.
I know from experience that being able to chat to other mums and dads
about being or becoming a parent, and celebrating personal and family
milestones, is priceless so I’ll be popping in to the discussion
forums every day to see what news you have and to share my thoughts too.
This time last year I joined a babyworld antenatal group. I was eight
months pregnant with my daughter Holly and hardly able to move. Having
never used a discussion forum before I was amazed by how much fun it was
and how I soon became addicted to our daily postings. It was fantastic
– there were other people in the world who were scared of the birth,
who didn’t want to be induced but were fed up with needing a forklift
truck to get out the bath, and who were amazed at how difficult parenting
could be! My friends and I have shared the ups (first smiles, weaning,
crawling, walking and talking!) and downs (endless sleepless nights, tummy
bugs and PND) of being a new parent. I wouldn’t change a thing (except
my still-flabby tummy!).
I want to make sure you get everything you need from babyworld, from
frivolous chatter to factual information. There’s loads of features
to help you through the parenting maze, from fertility to birth, from
an angelic newborn to a terrifying toddler, so if you ever want to know
about a particular subject or problem, I will try to point you in the
right direction. Just leave me a message for me on your discussion forum
and I’ll sort it out!
It’s so important to have somewhere welcoming to chat (about the
latest parenting news or discoveries), to vent your frustrations (is there
ever an end to the terrible twos?!), to ask for help (can PND strike six
months after the birth?), or just to have a gossip and a laugh for some
much needed light entertainment (what were Trinny and Susannah wearing
the other night?). Everyone makes (and breaks) New Year resolutions, but
at babyworld we’ve made one we are going to keep. We have always
been proud of our community spirit and this year we are determined to
make things even better.
