Hi, I'm Mary, and I moderate the Infertility Forum. I'm 32 and live in Hertfordshire with my husband Adam, our son Jac and our two cats, and I'm a primary school teacher. I joined Babyworld in 2004 after we'd been TTC for 5 months. It was then that I started to realise I needed to be a bit more proactive, so I sought help from the Trying for a Baby forum, and became hooked! I learnt so much, and made many friends. But sadly too many of my friends came and went while I found myself left behind, still trying to conceive.
A year later and I realised I was in a different place emotionally and needed help and support of a different kind. That's when I moved over to join the Infertility forum. It was a rock of support for me when things became more difficult. My friends on there guided me through all the stages of my journey, from first visiting my GP, to what to expect at appointments, how to interpret test results (and cope with them) and eventually the highs and lows of fertility treatment. I finally became pregnant in June 2006. After nearly 3 years of trying, with miscarriage, male factor problems, endometriosis and a failed IUI treatment along the way, it was to be our happy ending at last, and we are now a very proud Mummy and Daddy. I couldn't have made that journey and kept my sanity without the never-ending support that I found on the Infertility forum. I've received so much comfort and advice from my BW friends throughout my journey to motherhood, I felt it was time to give something back, so I now moderate the Infertility forum.
These days I'm found on the Infertility forum, and Pregnancy and Parenting After Infertility, but I also have continued friendships from my BW antenatal club. And now I love visiting the other forums, such as Product Talk and Feeding as I get to grips with being a Mum.
If you're having difficulty in conceiving, then I would recommend that you come over to the Infertility Forum, whether it's to find specific help and information about a particular test or appointment, or just to share your feelings and know that you are not alone.
