Jon
Buxton,
Operations Director
Jon joined babyworld in July 1999, prior to which he was the
Product Manager for the IT security cluster at Elsevier Advanced
Technology. He has also held positions in Finance, Purchasing,
Retailing, Customer Services and IT.
"I'm fascinated by the Internet, and its ability to provide an
interactive experience for the user. Some people are intimidated by
the technology but it’s here and it’s staying and it’s good to
be in an environment where you can make the power of the Internet work
for you."
Babyworld is also a great a place to learn new skills and during his
time at babyworld Jon has turned his hand to network administration, marketing,
e-commerce, graphic design, customer service and operations - sometimes
on the same day.
Outside of work Jon plays for the local hockey team, Rover
Oxford and is also a level 1 quallified coach for the junior section. He
can also be heard playing drums for many different bands around Oxford
- currently about 4. Please feel free to go and visit the Skyny-Nyrds
website, Zen Pigs website,
Hypermuse website , Glue
website or the Cache
website.
" I absolutely love playing drums. It's not really about making
a lot of noise although that's a bonus. Drums and percussion when played
properly can be as expressive and soulful as any other instrument. You
also get to meet and play with some great musicians - and most of my friends
are involved in music in some capacity. I'm not the best drummer in the
world but I try and make up for any lack of technical ability by always
being on time and being nice to people when I get there."
Jon’s brothers Ian and Gordon both work for Oxford Internet
Consultants who were involved in the initial creation of babyworld as
a website. They are still involved with babyworld on a regular basis.
Check out their website at :- http://www.oxinet.co.uk.
Jon also has his own baby
homepage where you can see some rather frightening pictures of him,
his parents and his brothers.
He is pictured here aged 2 wearing a shirt that may have been fashionable
in the 70's - who can tell ...
