My name is Carole, born in 1968, husband, Andy born in 1971. We eloped to Gretna Green to get married in 1996 and haven't looked back. I am a Holistic Therapist and sometimes go back to work on a part-time basis in project management (when a project interests me enough give up my life of leisure - or the bank account starts creaking!!).

I found Babyworld sometime in 1998, and used to moderate the Trying For A Baby Forum. We've had been trying for a baby since 1997 and had tried everything, including, giving up my job; expensive holidays; reflexology; acupuncture; spiritual healing; meditation; visualisation; 'giving up', and even re-trained as a Holistic Therapist myself. When all that didn't work, I turned to conventional medicine (1 IVF and 1 FET), which didn't work either. The last ditch attempt was a visit to the Cerne Abbas fertility giant.... in the hope that some of his fertility magic would rub off on us. As we're completely unexplained, we haven't a clue why it hasn't worked for us, but are convinced one way or another we will become parents.

The emotional roller coaster over the years has been unbearable at times, but I have come through it and feel very lucky to have the happy life that I have with my husband. We try and focus on all the things you wouldn't be able to do as a family, and enjoy a lot of quality time together. I really feel that our relationship is all the better because of what we've been through. It has also helped a great deal talking to ladies in the same situation on the Infertility Forum, people who completely understand my fears, insecurities and sometimes irrational thoughts. Without this forum, I definitely would not have gotten through it in one piece.

However, we do believe that everything happens for a reason, so in November 2004, we decided to start the adoption process. We were invited onto the Prep Course in June 2005, and started our Home Study in November 2005 (after putting the process on hold for a short while). We were approved at panel in April 2006 and are now waiting for our perfect match. If you would like to read more about the process, here's a link to my diary.

So that led me to ask Babyworld if they could set up an Adoption & Fostering Forum, which they were happy to do, and I offered to moderate it. I have gained so much insight and learnt a lot from others' experiences and hopefully helped a few ladies in my position, along the way.

I also moderate the FAO Forum as well... so if you need to ask a member a question about anything, that's the place to leave a post...!!!
